Ambassador Wu Xi meets with New Zealand National Party Leader Simon Bridges

On August 7, 2018, Ambassador Wu Xi met with Hon Simon Bridges, the leader of the National Party, the current opposition party in New Zealand. The two sides exchanged views on a range of issues, including China-New Zealand relations.

Ambassador Wu noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand, bilateral relations have maintained their momentum and continued to develop. The continuous deepening of cooperation between the two countries in various fields has brought tangible benefits to the two countries and their people. China appreciates the important contribution made by the National Party to the development of China-New Zealand relations and would like to maintain communication and exchanges with the party. Ambassador Wu hoped that the National Party would continue to play a positive role in promoting China-New Zealand relations.

The Hon Simon Bridges noted that the National Party always attaches great importance to relations with China. He is proud of the achievements made in China-New Zealand relations during the National Party’s administration. The National Party would like to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to further promote stable bilateral relations.
