Chinese Ambassador Wang Lutong present at talks between Ren Zhengxiao, Director General of the State Administration of Grain, and Martyn Dunne, Director-General of the Ministry of Primary Industries of New Zealand

    On 19 September 2016, China's Ambassador to New Zealand, Wang Lutong, attended the talks between the Chinese delegation headed by Ren Zhengxiao, Director General of the State Administration of Grain, and Martyn Dunne, Director-General of the Ministry of Primary Industries of New Zealand. Also present at the meeting was Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese embassy Zhang Fan.
    Director General Ren Zhengxiao briefed Director General Martyn Dunne on China's current food security situation and the challenges China is facing. He proposed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the area of food between the two countries under the framework of APEC Food Safety Policy Partnership mechanism and put in action the concept of improving food markets in the Asian-Pacific region.
    Martyn Dunne noted that food security and safety is the common concern of the two countries and that New Zealand would like to expand exchanges with China to strengthen the building of a bilateral trade system.
