Ambassador Wang Lutong and his wife attend a Chinese New Year celebration organised by the New Zealand Police

    On the afternoon of February 11 2016, the New Zealand Police organised a Chinese New Year celebration. Over 100 people including Ambassador Wang Lutong and his wife, the New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush, representatives from the New Zealand police force and the overseas Chinese community gathered together to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

    Ambassador Wang and Commissioner Bush delivered speeches to extend their New Year greetings. Ambassador Wang noted that the Chinese Embassy and consulates in New Zealand would work together with New Zealand to continuously advance friendly exchanges and cooperation, including police cooperation, between China and New Zealand.

    The celebration's atmosphere was very convivial, with a high level of exchanges between the participants. Ambassador Wang and his wife, together with the New Zealand police officers enthusiastically participated in a dumpling-making demonstration. Ambassador Wang and Commissioner Mike Bush also played drums, interacting with Wellington's professional lion dance team and spreading joy throughout the event. The local Chinese community performed painting and calligraphy demonstrations, played musical instruments and participated in a choir and other Chinese cultural shows, winning rounds of applause from the audience.
