Ambassador Wang Lutong meets with Gerry Brownlee, the Foreign Minister of New Zealand

    On May 24, Ambassador Wang Lutong met with Hon Gerry Brownlee, the Foreign Minister of New Zealand. The two sides exchanged views on the development of China–New Zealand relations and issues of common interests. Ambassador Wang noted that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and New Zealand. This March, Premier Li Keqiang paid a successful visit to New Zealand, which resulted in a good number of delieberables and created new "firsts" in China–New Zealand relations. China will continue to promote the advancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and New Zealand on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. Minister Brownlee noted that the New Zealand Government attaches great importance to the relationship with China and is willing to work together with China to further advance bilateral relations. Ambassador Wang also elaborated China's position on issues including South China Sea.
