Li Keqiang Meets with President Adama Barrow of Gambia

On the afternoon of December 22, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Adama Barrow of Gambia, who was in China for a state visit.

Li Keqiang expressed that the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Gambia conforms to the trend of the times and opens a new page for the development of bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping and Mr. President held fruitful talks yesterday, injecting fresh impetus into the development of China-Gambia relations. It is hoped that Gambia will firmly uphold the one-China policy. China stands ready to work with Gambia to uphold the principle of mutual respect and equal treatment so as to push the forward-looking development of bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to combine the national conditions and characteristics of Gambia, fully tap the complementary advantages, and promote practical cooperation between the two countries in agricultural technology, fish processing, infrastructure construction and tourism, so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. China stands ready to continue providing support and assistance within its own capacity for Gambia in economic and social development.

Adama Barrow expressed that Gambia thanks the Chinese government and its people for the long-term support and assistance for Gambia. Gambia is at the crucial period of economic and social development, and hopes to continuously receive help from China, a sincere partner of Gambia. The Gambian side highly values the development of relations with China and will firmly uphold one-China policy. Gambia is ready to strengthen cooperation in such fields as agriculture, infrastructure construction and tourism with China, in a bid to open up a new chapter for the development of Gambia-China relations.
