Presenting Old Revolutionary Base Area, Promoting the Cradle of Chinese Revolution: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Event Presenting Jiangxi Province
2017/09/08

On September 8, 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) held the 10th event presenting Chinese provinces at the Blue Hall of the Ministry with the theme of "An Open China: Beautiful Jiangxi, Showing Her Charm to the World". Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the event. Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Lu Xinshe delivered a speech and Governor of the People's Government of Jiangxi Province Liu Qi gave the presentation. Over 500 people attended the event, including Secretary of the CPC Committee of MFA and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, Assistant Foreign Minister Qian Hongshan, diplomatic envoys and senior diplomats from over 130 countries as well as representatives in China from international organizations, representatives from industrial and commercial sectors, Chinese and foreign experts, scholars, and journalists.

Wang Yi pointed out that this is the 10th global promotion event held by the MFA. Jiangxi is rich in cultural resources and carries distinct heritage of the Chinese Revolution. The CPC members' harsh journey of founding the People's Republic of China still exists in places like Jinggangshan, Ruijin and Nanchang and by reviewing such journey, people could better understand and support the peaceful development path that China pursues. It deserves mentioning that in 1931, the Chinese Soviet Republic was established in Ruijin and the People's Commission of Diplomacy was set up, marking the first diplomatic agency established under the leadership of the CPC. The commission was also the predecessor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Wang Yi stated that with the spirit of reform, Jiangxi is now writing the legend of central China's development. With green-oriented development as guideline, the province is accelerating the construction of National Eco-Civilization Pilot Zones and gradually building a "Jiangxi Model" for a beautiful China. Driven by innovation, the province undertakes multiple important research, development and manufacturing work of China-made C919 large jetliner. Furthermore, the province focuses on opening-up and actively participates in the "Belt and Road" construction. The China-Europe freight train starting from Ganzhou has connected Asia and Europe. With a tight connection between railways and maritime transport, 12 combined transport channels have been established. With the opportunities brought by the "Belt and Road" initiative, Jiangxi takes more stable steps in "going global" and gains fruitful results in "bringing-in" with an ever-enlarging circle of international friends, becoming a new highland for opening-up in inland provinces along the Yangtze River.

Lu Xinshe and Liu Qi expressed that in recent years, Jiangxi has firmly established and implemented the new development concept, and accelerated the transformation of its development mode to promote its development to a new stage. The province has also vigorously promoted ecological civilization construction to protect environment, making its environment quality steadily stay at the forefront of China. Also, the province has always adhered to developing for the people, unremittingly implemented livelihood projects, vigorously advanced poverty alleviation and speeded up the development of social causes, constantly improving people's well-being. Standing on the new historical starting point, we put forward the notion to construct a rich, beautiful and happy Jiangxi. We would stand firm to enlarge opening up and actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road", enhance all-round communication and cooperation with various countries in the world, and build a new pattern of all-round opening-up. Together with our global partners, we intend to create new engines for innovative development, explore a new approach for green development, and create a new situation of cultural integration.

British Ambassador to China Barbara Janet Woodward, Mexican Ambassador to China José Luis Bernal and Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Fazlul Karim delivered speeches successively, expressing gratitude to the MFA for providing diplomatic corps in China one more important opportunity to get a full understanding of China while praising Jiangxi Province for its efforts in developing economy, protecting environment, improving people's livelihood, and inheriting culture. They spoke positively of the achievements and prospects of the cooperation between Jiangxi Province and their respective nations and expressed the willingness to further strengthen friendly exchanges and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework.

Wang Yi, Zhang Yesui, Lu Xinshe, Liu Qi and the envoys also visited the theme exhibition on Jiangxi and had in-depth exchanges with each other.
