Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka Exchange Congratulatory Messages on the 60th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and Sri Lanka

On February 7, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang exchanged congratulatory messages with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, warmly congratulating on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Li Keqiang expressed in the congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka in 1957, bilateral relations have enjoyed a healthy and stable development, remained unshakable and become even firmer as time goes by. In recent years, both sides have taken the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" as an opportunity to continuously expand the breadth and depth of cooperation in various fields, presenting broad prospects in the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Sri Lanka to carry forward traditional friendship and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to push bilateral strategic cooperative partnership for more new outcomes.

Ranil Wickremesinghe said in the congratulatory message that Sri Lanka-China friendship has lasted for hundreds of years through the Ancient Maritime Silk Road, and the "Belt and Road" initiative has further enhanced bilateral friendship and provided opportunities for both countries to open up new cooperation areas. Sri Lanka is ready to make joint efforts with China to continuously deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation fields, so as to benefit the people of both countries.
