Apply for Chinese Visa for New Zealand-born Children of Chinese descent with New Zealand Citizenship

This scenario pertains to a child born in New Zealand who has New Zealand citizenship by birth, and when the child was born, one or both parents were Chinese citizens with a New Zealand Permanent Residence Visa. 

The following documents are required when applying for a Chinese visa.

1. Passport. Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages, and a photocopy of bio-data page of your passport.

2. Visa application form and ID photo. Please read Part 3 Visa Application Processes on Guideline on How to Apply for A Chinese Visa.

3. New Zealand Birth Certificate of the child. Please provide original and an additional photocopy.

4. Identification documents of the parents. Please provide photocopies of the information pages of both parents at the time of the child’s birth, and photocopies of New Zealand Permanent Residence Visa for the parents who held Chinese citizenship at the time when the child was born. 

5. Supporting documents based on the purpose of travel. Please refer to Part 2 Visa Category and Required Documents on Guideline on How to Apply for A Chinese Visa.

6. Other documents required by the consular officer.

7. Items 3 and 4 mentioned above are only required when applying for the visa for the first time. If the child has been previously granted a Chinese visa, a photocopy of the previous Chinese visa may require.
